Number of unique recipients of any kind of survivors’ pension aged 18 or older during the year. The age group might differ between countries. Relevant age group specified in country-note.

Finland

The age group is: 18-64 years.
Widows/widowers aged over 64 may be granted a survivor’s pension by way of an earnings-related pension. In 2018, the number of pensioners aged over 64 comprised 16 432 women and 34 670 men

Norway

The age group is: Persons 18 or older.
Includes pension for surviving spouse, partner or cohabitant, children's pension for child who has lost one or both parents (recipients 18 years and above) and pension for family carer.

Sweden

The age group is 18 - 64 (2003 - 2022) or 18- 65 (from 2023).
Includes widow’s pension to people under 65 (under 66 from 2023), as well as a transition pension and special pension to surviving relatives. People between 18 and 19 receiving child pensions are included. Widow's pension to woman aged 65 or older (66 and older from 2023) are not included.
