Recipients of disability pension for a given month in per cent of age group. Included are recipients of statutory disability pensions as basic/minimum pensions and/or supplementary/employment pensions/earnings-related pensions. All applicable age groups are included and therefore varies slightly across countries. Counted as recipients of disability benefits at a specified month around year-end. Relevant age group and reference date is specified in country-note.

Age group used for counting: data collected in 2008-2021 include repicients aged 16-66. Data collected in 2022-2023 also include 848 recipients who were eligible for a disability pension in their final month as 66-year-olds but received the benefit in their first month as 67-year-olds, as disability pensions are paid in arrears. Reference date: for data collected in 2008-2019, the number of recipients in a given year is counted as the number of recipients by January the following year. For data collected in 2020 and onwards, the number of recipients in a given year is counted as the number of recipients by December the same year. Other comments: the retirement age has increased since 2019. As a result, the number of people aged 65-66 years receiving disability pensions has increased.

Finland

The age group used in calculation is: 18–66
Reference date is: 31 December

Iceland

Until 2010, individuals from 16 years could receive diability pension. Therfore, the age group 18-19 years also includes 16-17 years olds for 2010 and earlier.

Norway

The age groups used in counting are:18-67 years.
Reference date is:31.12.2023.

Sweden

18-19 years = 19 years.
The age group used in the calculation is: 19-65 years. Reference date is: last day of the month.
