Health personnel are defined according to NACE (Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community) and ISCO (International Standard Classification of Occupations). The following NACE codes from the area of Human Health and Social work activities are applied: Q86.2.1 ´Medical and dental practice activities´ combined with ISCO code: 2211 ´Generalist Medical Practitioners´

Head count, meaning one person working full-time and one person working part-time, each count as one. All physicians working in a general practice are counted, no matter their specialization. In 2014 there is a break in data because the register used to count number of physicians was revised.

Faroe Islands

The figures are calculated in full-time positions and include only the health sector (not the social sector).

Iceland

Data on general practioners refers to physicians with that speciality in the Register of Licenced Health Care Professionals
