Health personnel are defined according to NACE (Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community) and ISCO (International Standard Classification of Occupations). The following NACE codes from the area of Human Health and Social work activities are applied: Q86 ´Human health activities´, Q87 ´Residential care activities´, and Q88 ´Social work activities without accommodation´.

Faroe Islands

The figures are calculated in full-time positions and include only the health sector (not the social sector).
Radiographers: From 2021 and onwards all hospitals are included. Previously only the national hospital was included.

Greenland

Qualified nurses includes 'qualified nurses' and 'radiographers'
Other health care personnel includes 'teachers', 'pedagogues', 'porters' and 'special fees paid'
Other health personnel with a higher education includes 'social workers' and 'medical secretary'

Iceland

Physicians licensed to practice up to 70 years old at end of year, with permanent residence in Iceland

Norway

The figures before 2007 concern NACE codes N85.1 and N85.3 (rev.1). After 2007 the figures concern NACE Q86, Q87 and Q88.1 (rev. 2). NACE: Statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community.l
